Updated OF Terms & Conditions - What Every Creator Needs to Know
Oct 17, 2026
Now is the time to pay attention to your account, your content and the small print.
On the 1st October 2026, OnlyFans notified creators about updates to its Terms of Service, with the new terms expected to take effect on the 1st November 2026. The changes cover everything from account suspensions and withheld earnings to AI-generated content, third-party tools and how creators can challenge platform decisions.
And while you don't need to panic, you do need to understand what you're agreeing to.
Some of the biggest changes concern the circumstances in which OnlyFans can restrict your account or hold your earnings. Other updates introduce more explicit rules around AI and data collection, making it important to review the tools and workflows you use to run your business.
I've broken down the key changes, what they could mean for you and the steps you can take to protect your creator business.
Please note: this article is a plain-English summary of reported changes to the October 2026 terms, not legal advice. Check the current agreement and official OnlyFans notifications for the exact wording and effective date.
1. OnlyFans can suspend accounts under broader circumstances
This is arguably the biggest change creators need to understand.
Under the previous Terms of Service, OnlyFans could suspend an account and withhold earnings if it believed a creator had seriously or repeatedly breached the platform's terms.
The updated wording removes the words "seriously or repeatedly". This means the relevant clause now refers more broadly to circumstances where OnlyFans believes a creator has, or may have, breached its terms.
In practice, this gives the platform greater discretion to take action when it suspects a breach, without the previous qualification that the breach must be serious or repeated.
The terms also allow for accounts to be suspended without prior warning while the relevant facts are reviewed.
What does this mean for creators?
It makes understanding and following the platform's rules even more important. A mistake that you might consider minor could still prompt a review if OnlyFans believes its terms have been breached.
This isn't a reason to panic about every post you upload. It's a reason to stop assuming that one small mistake will automatically be overlooked.
Make sure you understand the platform's content rules, review your existing content where necessary and be mindful of what you and anyone working on your account are posting or sending.
2. There are additional reasons your earnings could be withheld
Your earnings are the result of the time, effort and work you put into your business. So, naturally, any changes affecting your payouts deserve your attention.
The updated terms introduce additional circumstances in which OnlyFans can withhold earnings. Alongside suspected breaches and suspected fraud, these include situations involving potential financial loss or reputational harm, as well as failing to provide requested information promptly.
The wording around reputational harm is particularly broad, covering harm to the reputation of OnlyFans or its users.
The terms also allow earnings to be withheld while OnlyFans reviews relevant facts. They do not specify a fixed maximum duration for an investigation-related hold.
What does this mean for creators?
First, don't ignore emails, notifications or requests from OnlyFans. If the platform asks you for information or documentation, take the request seriously and respond as promptly as you can.
Second, keep records. Save relevant emails, screenshots, payment information and support conversations so you have a clear record if a problem arises.
Finally, think about how you manage the money coming into your business. Keep track of your available balance, understand your payout arrangements and make sure you're not relying on money that hasn't yet reached your bank account to cover an immediate expense.
You cannot eliminate the risk of a payout hold, but you can make your business better prepared to deal with unexpected disruption.
3. AI-generated content has stricter requirements
AI has become an increasingly common part of content creation, whether creators use it to edit images, enhance visuals or experiment with new creative ideas.
However, the updated OnlyFans terms introduce an additional requirement for AI-generated content.
Previously, creators were required to make it clear when content had been generated by AI, using a signifier such as #AIor #AIGenerated.
Under the updated wording, AI-generated, altered or enhanced content must meet three conditions:
-
It must clearly feature the verified creator. Content featuring a completely synthetic persona that isn't the verified account holder does not meet this requirement.
-
It must be clearly identified as AI-generated. A label such as
#AIor#AIGeneratedcan be used to make this clear to subscribers. -
It must comply with the rest of the platform's terms and Acceptable Use Policy. Labelling something as AI-generated doesn't exempt it from the other content rules.
In other words, simply adding an AI label is no longer enough.
What does this mean for creators?
If you use AI in your workflow, review the content you're creating and how you're publishing it.
Check that the content clearly features you as the verified creator, that the AI use is disclosed appropriately and that the finished material complies with the platform's other requirements.
If you work with an editor, agency or content assistant, make sure they understand these rules too. You remain responsible for taking the platform's requirements seriously when content is posted through your account.
When in doubt, check the official AI content guidance before uploading.
4. New restrictions affect data collection and AI training
Another important update concerns how OnlyFans content and data can be accessed and used.
The revised terms explicitly restrict the use of manual or automated tools designed to collect data or information from content or certain platform services. They also restrict using content or those services to train or improve software, machine learning systems or AI.
This is particularly relevant for creators and agencies that rely on external tools to manage their work.
For example, you might use software to organise messages, review performance, manage your team or support your content workflow. The important distinction is that not every third-party tool necessarily does the same thing, and the precise impact will depend on how a tool operates and what it accesses.
What does this mean for creators?
Don't assume that a tool is permitted simply because it's marketed to OnlyFans creators.
Review the services you use and ask:
-
Does the tool collect, download or scrape information from my content?
-
Does it use content or platform data to train or improve AI systems?
-
Does it require access that could breach OnlyFans' restrictions?
-
Does the provider clearly explain how my information and content are handled?
If you're working with an agency or manager, ask them to explain which tools they use and how those tools comply with the updated terms.
This is also a good opportunity to review who has access to your account and whether everyone involved genuinely needs that access.
5. Your ability to challenge a decision must be taken seriously
The updated terms retain a six-month period for disputing certain platform decisions, but explicitly state that disputes must be made in writing.
That matters if your account is suspended, your content is removed or your earnings are withheld.
When you're stressed or frustrated, it can be tempting to send a quick message and hope the issue resolves itself. However, keeping a clear written record gives you something concrete to refer back to.
What does this mean for creators?
If you receive a decision you believe is incorrect:
-
Read the notification carefully and establish exactly what decision has been made.
-
Save the notification, screenshots and any relevant supporting information.
-
Check the applicable OnlyFans complaints or appeals process.
-
Submit your dispute in writing within the relevant six-month period, following the applicable procedure.
-
Keep copies of everything you submit and any responses you receive.
Don't assume that a casual conversation with support automatically counts as a formal dispute. Follow the relevant procedure and seek legal advice if a substantial amount of money or your livelihood is at stake.
6. OnlyFans has changed how it promises to notify users about updates
The updated terms also change the wording around notifications.
Previously, the terms made a stronger commitment to notify users before other changes took effect. The updated wording says OnlyFans will use reasonable efforts to notify users about material changes.
This doesn't mean that every update will happen without notice, but it does change the strength of the platform's stated notification commitment.
What does this mean for creators?
Don't rely entirely on hearing about changes through social media, creator groups or other people.
Make checking your official platform notifications part of your regular business routine. If you manage a team or work with an agency, make sure someone is responsible for reviewing policy updates and communicating anything relevant to everyone involved.
A five-minute check could save you a much bigger headache later.
7. OnlyFans is introducing its own direct services and trials
The updated terms also introduce wording covering OnlyFans' own direct services and trials that can renew as paid subscriptions.
This is worth being aware of because it relates to the services and subscription arrangements offered through the platform itself, rather than being solely about individual creator accounts.
If you encounter a trial or direct service, read the relevant details carefully, particularly where a trial converts into a paid subscription. Check the renewal terms and any applicable cancellation arrangements rather than assuming that a trial will end automatically.
For creators, the key takeaway is to stay informed about how the platform's own services operate and how they may affect the wider subscriber experience.
8. What hasn't changed?
Not every part of the agreement has changed, and it's useful to separate the new requirements from the terms that remain in place.
The 20% platform fee remains unchanged. The updated terms continue to state that OnlyFans takes a 20% fee on creator payments.
Creators don't automatically lose ownership of their content. The changes do not mean that OnlyFans automatically becomes the owner of everything you upload. Content ownership and the licence you grant the platform to use that content are separate issues.
It's still important to read the full agreement to understand the rights and permissions you grant when using the platform.
Your OnlyFans compliance checklist
You don't need to overhaul your entire business overnight, but you should take a little time to check that everything is in order.
Use this checklist to get started:
- Read the updated Terms of Service, paying particular attention to the suspension and earnings provisions.
- Check your official OnlyFans notifications and confirm the applicable effective date.
- Review your content against the platform's current rules.
- Make sure any AI-generated, altered or enhanced content meets the new requirements.
- Review third-party apps, management software and AI tools that access your content or platform data.
- Check who has access to your account and what permissions they need.
- Respond promptly to requests for information from OnlyFans.
- Keep written records of important communications, payment information and account decisions.
- Familiarise yourself with the complaints and appeals procedures.
- Make sure you understand your payout arrangements and keep your business finances organised.
Final thoughts: take your business seriously
Let's be honest, building a successful creator business takes time, energy and a lot of work behind the scenes. Your account isn't just somewhere you upload content. For many creators, it's a significant source of income.
That's why understanding the platform you rely on is part of running your business.
These updated terms give OnlyFans broader discretion in certain circumstances to suspend accounts and withhold earnings, introduce additional requirements for AI content, and set clearer restrictions around data collection and AI training.
You can't control every decision a platform makes, but you can control how informed you are, how organised your business is and how carefully you manage your content and account access.
So, take the time to read the terms, check your tools and get your processes in order. Don't wait until there's a problem to start thinking about protecting your business.
Your content is your work. Your account is your business. Treat both accordingly.
